Urban Developer / Designer

As an urban developer/designer, you will be involved in the planning and designing of groups of buildings and public spaces with the goal of making urban areas functional, attractive, and sustainable.

What do Urban Developers/Designers do?

Urban designers provide project design recommendations for the development of urban areas. In collaboration with government or private agencies, they conduct land surveys and assessment of geographical data, and design streets, landscapes, parks, subway stations, residential complexes, medical facilities and shopping centres.

What does a typical day at work involve?

  • Checked Design and administer government plans or policies affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, housing, or transportation

What areas can an Urban designer specialise in?

Landscape Architecture involves the planning and design of parks, gardens, waterfront developments and the outdoor spaces of campuses, resorts, businesses and housing areas.
This specialisation deals with the planning and design of road networks and transportation systems in cities and suburbs of the urban area to ensure efficient mobility for people and goods.
This area involves planning and development of housing facilities for the growing urban population
Urban conservation is a specialisation of urban planning and design and it seeks to retain and preserve that part of urban environment which is a part of national or local heritage and ensure that the siting and design of any new developments are in harmony with it.

Requirements for masters in Urban Developer Designer

India (M.U.D from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi)

  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture/ Planning with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC / ST / OBC candidates).
  • Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Portfolio of work
  • Statement of Purpose
