Econometricians conduct quantitative analysis of economic phenomena, using highly specialized statistical measures and mathematical formulae to interpret the data and generate quantifiable results. They create statistical models and predict economic principles and outcomes.

How to become an International Econometritian?

Step 1
Take any Stream at +2 level

You may take any stream at +2 to be eligible for admission to an undergraduate course in Economics. A sound base in Mathematics will be of advantage and may be an essential requirement for some institutions. Also, preference may be given to candidates who have studied Economics at +2 level.

Step 2
Take BA/B.Sc in Economics/Econometrics

Take BA/B.Sc Economics which is of 3 years duration. Although in India Econometrics specialisation is not offered at Bachelor’s level there are many foreign universities offering BA/B.Sc Econometrics course.

Step 3
Take MA/M.Sc in Econometrics

Take MA/MSc in econometrics which is of 2 years duration.

Step 4
M.Phil/Doctoral programs

After pursuing a masters, you may take M.phil (2 years program) or PhD (3-4 years) in Econometrics.

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business Economics or any Specialization in Economics, B.Com./B.C.A., B.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics or Undergraduate degree in Management/Business Administration. or Company Secretaryship.
  • Should qualify in the entrance examinations conducted by the University.

Foreign ( from London School of Economics, UK for MSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics)

  • First class honours degree or equivalent with strong, technical background in engineering, physical science, econometrics, statistics, mathematics and/or economics.
  • English Language Proficiency : An Overall score of 7.0 in IELTS or an overall score of 100 in TOEFL.
  • GMAT : A score over 163/780 in the quantitative section of the test.
  • Academic statement of purpose.
  • Two academic references.
