As a librarian, you will be involved in organising and managing various range of information and reading resources particularly through preserving, collecting and organizing books and other materials in libraries.

They work in libraries of educational institutions, where they manage libraries and other and educational materials.
Digital librarian has to manage and organize digital libraries or resources by handling storage, access and digital knowledge
Music librarians manage , organize, preserve and acquire materials related to music.
Library managers will lead various activities of library which are including, organization collection and preservation of books. He/she may supervise cataloging and public relations of the library.
Generally they are legal professionals who are responsible for managing and preserving books and information related to law.

How to become a Librarian?

Step 1
Take any stream in 12th

Students who wish to pursue a career as a librarian, can take any stream in 12th.

Step 2
Take Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

To take up bachelor’s or master’s qualification in Library Science you need to have a bachelor’s qualification in any discipline. This is usually a three year course.


Note :

A one year course in Library and Information Science (BLib/BLISc)which is. This can be taken up after graduation.

Step 3
Take Master’s degree in Library and Information Science

After Graduation or BLib/BLISc you can take Master’s degree in Library and Information Science which is of 2 years duration.


Note :

MLISc can be taken up directly after graduation in any discipline
