What would help you build a good profile for admission at the UG level?

Stream to Choose at +2 level:

Take Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English at the +2 level.

Subjects to focus:

The most important subjects to focus on are Maths and Physics as it forms the base for the engineering curriculum. Chemistry at the higher secondary level also has importance. Students should give importance to other subjects as well to obtain a high aggregate percentage.

Some skills to acquire:

A student taking up a course in the engineering field essentially requires to be able to put in a lot of hard work in a sustained manner. He/She therefore needs to develop perseverance,numerical ability and good time management skills. To be a successful engineer, it is essential to have good spatial ability and perceptual skills. Efforts should also be made to improve communication skills.

Minimum marks:

There are various kinds of entrance exams to get admission into engineering. In order to crack these entrance exams, student must have good problem solving skills. Student will have to practice questions out of the text books and prepare with great perseverance and discipline

Induslnd Foundation Scholarship The applicants should have passed passed 12th examination in the same academic year with minimum 85% marks. Should have secured admission in a regular degree course. The financial background of the students is also an important factor in granting the scholarship.
Nest Senior 1 Awarded based on a test conducted on the last sunday of January every year. 1st and 2nd year Medical students can apply for this scholarship. Students of class 12th can also apply. 10 or more scholarships of rupees 35000-75000 are provided.
Foundation for Excellence Scholarship FFE awards scholarships to promising students who are extremely bright and talented, but come from financially constrained backgrounds. These scholarships are granted to students who have not only scored in the top percentage of Technology, Engineering and Medical state and national entrance exams, but have also been accepted to highly regarded and reputed institutions in India.
Kerala Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship Students who are above 80 percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent and pursuing regular courses (not correspondence or distance mode) in Colleges/Institutions recognized by All India Council of Technical Education, UGC, Medical Council of India, and Dental Council of India.
Pragati Scholarship for Girls For Technical education Pragati is a scheme of AICTE aimed at providing assistance for advancement in girls participation in technical education.
NTPC Scholarship Scheme This scholarship for engineering offered by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), is meant for deserving candidates from the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and physically challenged students. 2nd year Engineering students falling in these categories are eligible for this particular scholarship.
Merit cum means based scholarship This is a merit-based scholarship for engineering students provided by the central government in India (Ministry of Minority Affairs). It targets explicitly poor but meritorious students from minority communities (Parsis, Jains, Muslims, Christians), who want to pursue advanced professional and technical courses.

Saksham scholarship for Differently Abled Students for Technical education Saksham is an MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE which aims at providing encouragement and support to specially abled children to pursue technical education. This is an attempt to give every young student, who is otherwise specially abled, the opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future.
North South Foundation Scholarship This scholarship is suitable for class 12th pass outs who wish to pursue further studies in Engineering, Polytechnic or Medicine. The North South Foundation is based in Illinois, United States of America. Only students who have secured an admission in a government or government-aided institution can apply for it. Also, the annual family income of the applicant must be less than Rs. 90,000.
Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test This scholarship test is for individuals pursuing a degree in professional courses like Medicine, Science, and Engineering. The students must be studying in an Indian college or University to be eligible for this program. Suitable candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in an online test conducted by the NEST team every year.

Future of Engineering Careers in India

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for engineers is promising.
