As a graduate in Dairy Sciences and Technology, you would focusing on every stage starting from processing, management and final consumption of milk by working on acquiring, processing, storage, packing and final distribution of the milk to improve animal welfare and productivity and also to ensure the quality of milk and milk products.
Dairy scientists do research on how to efficiently produce and process milk. They may also have to supervise or oversee machineries, ensure proper food and nutrition for livestock and domestic animals, conduct experiments to determine the effects of different foods and environments on the quality and quantity of the milk, use and develop new technologies and practices in taking care of livestock, evaluate and grade the dairy animals and the farm.
Science stream in 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Maths as compulsory subjects Minimum marks criteria is 50% marks in PCM subjects.
B. Tech. Dairy Technology is a 4 year course which involves training the admitted students extensively in the production, processing and quality control of dairy-related products.
There are very few colleges in India offering this course. The minimum eligibility is Physics, Chemistry and maths as main subjects in 12th.
This course span for 2 years. The minimum eligibility is to have 55% aggregate in B. Tech. in Dairy technology.
PhD. in Dairy technology involves research . This spans from 3 - 5 years and may take even more than that.

A dairy scientist must be able to understand, measure, monitor various situations and apply technical knowledge. They must be open to seek training opportunities for further development to improve performance in day to day tasks of the role etc.
Dairy scientists must be keen on identifying even the tiniest of details regarding changes in the dairy products during processing.
This skill is required to assist in managing for profit by problem solving and finding the best solution to a given problem or situation and also to collaborate with others to seek input and alternative ideas.
In this position, one should possess a balance in listening and talking; speaking and writing clearly and accurately; keeping others informed.
As a dairy scientist/technologist, self managing is of great importance. They should focus on effective planning and time management as well as prioritisation of tasks.
