It is beneficial for you to learn Music parallelly outside the formal academic curriculum. Participating in Music programmes and competitions will improve your skills and talent. Certificates of your achievements in this field may help you to get admission in good institutions.
The common course offered at the UG level in this area is BA/ BPA Music or B.Mus.There are also various Music genres like Carnatic, Hindustani etc which may be chosen as specialisations. The duration of the course will be three years.
There are Diploma programs in Music of 1-2 years.
After completing UG in Music you can go for MA Music which is of 2 years duration.
After pursuing Master’s you can go for an M Phil or PhD if your profile (including portfolio, certificates of achievements, performance videos etc.) and research proposal is excellent.
